Specifications help you compare how a floor is built, how it may feel, and whether it fits your project. No single number tells the whole story.
Wear layer
The clear protective surface above the printed color and pattern. It must be worn or scratched through before damage reaches the design layer. We carry 20 mil and higher wear layers because they are built for most residential living demands.
Total thickness
The complete thickness of the plank, including its attached pad. It can affect how the floor feels and meets nearby surfaces, but the core, locking system, and subfloor also matter.
Core
SPC is a dense, dimensionally stable rigid core. WPC generally feels warmer and softer underfoot. Neither is automatically better for every room, so match the core to the space and installation conditions.
Attached pad
Underlayment bonded to the back of the plank. It can add comfort and reduce sound, but it does not replace proper subfloor preparation or moisture protection required by the manufacturer.
Plank or tile size
The width and length of each piece. Size changes the scale, pattern, number of seams, and layout of the finished floor. A larger plank is not automatically a higher-quality plank.
Waterproof
The plank is waterproof because its core is made from limestone and plastic, which are waterproof materials. That does not make the entire room or subfloor waterproof. Water can still reach the subfloor through seams or around the edges, so spills, leaks, moisture, drainage, and installation details still need proper attention.
What matters most Compare the wear layer, core, thickness, pad, plank size, box coverage, and price together. If you are unsure, we will help match the construction to the way your room is actually used.
